My work with both A. G. Edwards and Sons, Inc. and with Dain Bosworth, Inc. as a branch manager provided for me extensive training about how to teach young stock brokers to reach peak performance and achieve their goals. Every month all brokers started at zero and had to achieve their monthly quota. It was definitely an outcome driven situation. That is what pure coaching is: outcome driven.
However, the most successful collegiate coaches also use a strong mentoring process. All mentors are coaches; not all coaches are mentors. There is abundant love, compassion, understanding, camaraderie, and friendship shared among all successful college teams. Rigorous scientific research has shown that regardless of the method of psychotherapy, success was obtained if the therapist displayed genuineness, empathy, and unconditional positive regard (i.e. love). That is mentoring. That is the approach used by FANTASTIC in this context.
